Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith

In accordance with the Holy Scriptures and by the Revelation of the Holy Spirit to the Pentecostal and Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe:

THAT the Holy Scripture (both the Old and the New Testaments) is the inspired Word of the Almighty God. It is—

(i) A complete revelation of the will of God for the salvation of mankind;

(ii) Without error because it was written by Holy Servants of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit; and

(iii) Profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction for instruction in righteousness and equipping the servants of God for good works.

IN one God, the creator of things, infinitely perfect, eternal being, the King and the Savior of the Universe. He alone is God, the Creator, the Administrator of the entire universe, and the most Holy One of Trinity. He is revealed as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

IN Jesus Christ the second Person in the Divine Trinity. He is one and equal with God the Father. He is true God and man having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born by the Virgin Mary.

THAT Jesus Christ died for our sins and after the third day he rose from among the dead; He took upon himself a new body; ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father interceding for his believers unceasingly. He will return to the earth at the end of the world to judge the living and the dead. All authority in heaven and on earth is given to him. He will rule the universe forever and ever.

IN the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Divine Trinity who is always present in the eternity; inspiring and guiding the Church of Christ to conquer the world by the blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God and through their testimonies. He convicts sinners to repent from their sins to receive Jesus Christ as their eternal Lord and Saviour.

THAT sin exists. That before sin entered into the world, God made man in the image of God with free will capable of choosing between good and evil. Man was created perfectly without sin but sin came into the world by the disobedience of our first Ancestors Adam and Eve. Sin separated man from God and brought death upon the whole humankind. That sin has two types, the original sin and personal sin. The original sin is that sin that came into the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve; whereas personal sin is the sin committed by a person by his or her own choice and the sinner is personally responsible for his action or omission.

THAT it is only the shed blood of Jesus Christ and his resurrection that provide the only grounds for the justification and salvation of a sinner before the Almighty God. A person cannot be justified by his or her good works but by grace of God through faith. Thus, justification, regeneration and the adoption into the family of God are the works of God through the Holy Spirit which cannot be earned by Good works.

THAT Jesus Christ; by his suffering, the shedding of his precious blood and death on the Cross of Calvary paid the price for the sins of the world. That everyone who turns away from his or her sin; believes in the Lord Jesus Christ is born again and saved from God’s wrath but those who do not believe in Jesus Christ are already condemned.

THAT the church is the community of those who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour.

THAT the Church is here on earth to:

(i)     Preach the Goodness of Jesus Christ to all the nations;

(ii)   Make disciples of all nations;

(iii)  Baptize those who believe in the name of the Father, the Son and   the Holy Spirit;

(iv)  Teaching those who believe to love God with all their hearts, spirit and strength; and to love their neighbours as they love themselves;

(v)   Cast out demons, heal the sick and diseased, open the eyes of the blind, and make the lame walk;  and

(vi)  Feed the hungry, visit the prisoners and clothe the naked.

THAT Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion), Holy Matrimony and Ordination are to be observed by the Church during this present age. But they are, however, not a means by which a sinner can attain salvation from sin. Baptism being the symbol of the new alliance of those who have repented of their sins and have joined the family of God. The Holy Communion clearly evidences the death of Jesus Christ for the sins of the World. It is a symbol of the new covenant between God and Man.

THAT Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, which is composed of all the local church denominations found in various parts of the world. The worldwide Church is joined by the Holy Spirit in one body of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

THAT when the time is ripe, the Lord Jesus Christ shall personally return to the earth to judge both the living and the dead. After judgment, the redeemed of the Lord shall reign in the universe with Christ for eternity but the condemned shall be punished and tormented in hell forever and ever, Amen.
